North to Alaska: Perkins, Oklahoma to Dodge City, Kansas

Well ...day one of my new adventure. It's not starting off very well. I had a flat on the outside left rear tire. So I was delayed for an hour. Not the end of the world. I dropped off the ambulance at Rusty's tire repair station and walked back to my Mom's farm for breakfast.  Two farm fresh eggs with garden spinach and two mimosas later (am I allowed to say that? I think I will). I'm on my way.

As I walked back to the farm I thought about all the times in my life I left the farm, and wondered how many more times I would leave the farm.

Google led me astray!!

When I finally got on the road I decided not to take any Interstate roads or turnpike on my way to Alaska. I'm driving down state highway 51 out in west Oklahoma following google maps and I run into a bridge out!

Now What?

So I turned around and took the nearest route to get back on track which google had me drive down a farm road. Remember I'm in a heavy F450 ambulance fully loaded with over 100 gallons of jet fuel and 60 gallons of water plus all my stuff.

So now I'm driving down a muddy dirt road in western Oklahoma hoping I don't get stuck, I have no idea who I would call if I do. I can hear the mud slinging all over the truck (I just washed her two days ago) At some point I need to start questioning my life decisions.

Back on a normal road, I made it! Lots of windmill farms. It's hard to see but the upper blade was going into the fog clouds.

Made it to Kansas.

My Co-Pilot didn't do much, she didn't care that we had a flat, got lost, or got muddy.

Dodge City, Kansas is definitely a dog friendly town!

It was 54 degrees when I left Perkins now its 49 degrees in Dodge City, it was cloudy/foggy and rainy the whole drive.  I hope the weather is better tomorrow.
